Fertility of Female Turkish Immigrants in Germany

Content and Objective

The objective of this project is to determine the fertility of Turkish women who live in Germany and to find reasons for the differences which may occur in comparison to German women or women who are of another background. As a theoretical basis, we use assumptions on the specific situation of the immigration experience as an explanatory factor for the timing of the birth of children in the life course as well as socialisation-related aspects of the country of origin.

The project is conducted in cooperation with the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). We use the first wave of the sub-sample of Turkish nationals living in Germany of the Generations and Gender Survey (GGS) as well as the Representative Survey of Selected Groups of Migrants in Germany (RAM) as our data basis.
